But the OS shows no sign of it. What did I miss?
When you say âshows no sign of itâ, can you be more specific? What is the output of running lspci from the command line?
What brand and model of SSD are you using?
Iâve had good luck with mine so far, but I have read that there are certain SSDâs the nvme base doesnât work well (or at all) with.
WD black ss770m
So, your lspci output shows no âNon-Volatile memory controllerâ as the output from mine below does?
root@tachyon-xxxxxxxx:~# lspci
0000:00:00.0 PCI bridge: Qualcomm Device 010b
0000:01:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Device 1103 (rev 01)
0001:00:00.0 PCI bridge: Qualcomm Device 010b
0001:01:00.0 Non-Volatile memory controller: Micron Technology Inc Device 5416 (rev 01)
Checking the Pimoroni site for the nvme base here:
It shows that the SSD you have may fall under their âavoidâ category if it happens to use the same SanDisk controller. The model you have does use a SanDisk controller, but not sure if it is the same one they had issues with or not.
âWD Green/Blue/Red/Black not in the above list. Variable results or not working because of quirks of a SanDisk controller/firmware.â
I can confirm that the Crucial P3 Plus (CT1000P3PSSD8) model SSD works and another Tachyon owner here in the community has reported that the Samsung 990 Evo model SSD worked as well.
Thankyou very much...i like chk my system again as I am traveling. J
