elapsedMillis.h - remaining time?

Hi There, I would like to use the elapsedMillis.h class. to determine how long to stay awake.

Insde the loop is working fine.

if (stay_awake_timer > stay_awake_time) {
			entered_sleep = true;
			calc_when_to_wake();
			
		}

However, if an event happens, I would like to possibly extend the wake time, but not simply reset the timer.

Here is the example. (Psuedo code)

if (io_event)          { stay_awake_time = 100msec}
if (modem_event)  { stay_awake_time = 60000msec}

if (stay_awake_timer.remaining_time > stay_awake_time){do_nothing}
else {stay_awake_timer = stay_awake_time}


Any ideas on how to return the remaining time left in the timer?
