What a saga! So after this thread in which I discover I’ve bought the inferior chip, I then went ahead and sourced the real deal, the DFplayer Mini, two in fact, and wired them up just like the MP3-TF-16P I had (which worked, just with low volume) and neither of these chips do anything. The LED doesn’t come on at all. How likely is it two units are just ‘dead’ out of the wrappers? I did notice with the first one I unwrapped that the pins were very bent out of shape and had to be squeezed a bit to slot into the breadboard. The second I tried was fine. Thanks
@FiDel, I know you were the original poster about these chips, have you had any problems with them? Or @peekay123?

I never had any problem with these. I bought 10 and two are permanently in use…
