Could not communicate with Photon cloud. Android app

Trying to set up 2 photons for an upcoming job, one setup went perfectly fine, cloud connected, breathing cyan. When trying to set up my second, I get: ERROR could not communicate with photon cloud. I’ve tried closing the app completely and restarting, restarting my phone, disconnect and reconnect to my wifi, nothing helps. Any ideas?

If you want to get the device set up to get unblocked, I’d use CLI.

That’s what I’m doing now, but I don’t always have access to a computer on site somewhere so I’m wondering what may be going on and how to resolve it.

We’d need to know more about that Photon in question.

  • What does particle serial inspect tell you about it?
  • What is the SSID exposed by it when putting it in Listening Mode?

Photon SSID: Photon-P4M7X5

I found the problem, the photon would connect to the cloud but wouldn’t show up in my devices. When I try to claim it manually, it says I’m over my device limit. I took care of that, but it would have been nice to get that alert through the app rather than the error it showed.

Hitting the device limit is rare, but we should still have a better experience there, no doubt. Thanks for the feedback, @Mjones!

By the time I finish cleaning everything up, I won’t be close to that. I had several damaged in lightning, flood, or something else and never removed them from my account.
