Boron 3G/LTE Europe

@gularsen Is the Boron LTE (BRN404X) for NorAm still working here in Norway? I’m prototyping with the 2/3G module, but need to upgrade to LTE somehow.

Takker!

We do not recommend using the Boron LTE BRN404X or BRN404 (LTE Cat M1) in Europe at this time.

While technically it can work, there are two issues:

  • The bands used in Europe are not enabled in Device OS.
  • The BRN404X and BRN404 are not CE certified, so it’s not legal to use them in the EU.

Hello!, It has been a while since I did work on Boron related solutions. Last project I worked on was with a customized version of the Electron with a Cat M1 modem, which works well here in Norway.

Particle only support the use of the B524 SOM modules in Europe:

However, this is not a viable option if you already have existing products.

I would check out the nRF9160 feather module instead as a suitable replacement for the original Boron.

However, you will need to factor in a new software development effort to use it.

Hi @gularsen and @rlang ,
would this proposal below from @chipmc help in your case? Thanks.
