BLE long-range (coded PHY) is not supported on the Photon 2, any future dev plans?

Hi, on the docs we can read:

  • BLE long-range (coded PHY) is not supported on the Photon 2. It is on the Argon with Device OS 3.1 or later.

Are there any hopes that this would come at a later date or is it a hardware limitation?

Gus, before coded PHY - I would like to see some way to authenticate on pairing and support for bonding e.g. protection from MITM attacks!

Unfortunately it is a hardware limitation: the RTL872x chip does not support Coded PHY mode
