Hi, I’ve tried to make a rs485 shield for the photon, but I didn’t check if there was any way add a kind of RX/TX led before I ordered the pcbs.
Should this work ?
Hey there–you mean an LED that turns on whenever there is activity over the Rx and Tx line?
That looks right to me, but I’ve only designed a handful of PCBs 
Note that those are the hardware serial pins, so if you want to see LED activity using USB serial, you’d have to wire those up separately.

@ekarlso, did you test on a protoboard just to be sure?
Tested by using the continuity with a DMM and found that the connection in between the photon and the LED was faulty
