Powering Boron with 5VDC (12VDC to 5VDC using a step-down converter)

I have been reading a few article on applying power to the Particle Boron. In particular a discussion on 12VDC using the VUSB pin.

My question is, my car battery is connected to a 12VDC to 5VDC step-down converter (as shown below). Can I connect the output from the step-down converter of 5VDC to the VUSB pin?

Yes, that should work. 5V is the recommended voltage on VUSB and 3A at 5V is sufficient to power the Boron, even without the LiPo battery.
