Since Gen3 never came to support USB HID and BLE HID seems to struggle too it would be nice to see the Photon2 pick up the baton from its predecessor’s (the original Photon) and bring that feature back to the Particle eco system.

I’m going to go with probably not. It looks like the USB HID is implemented in the STM32 libraries, which is why it doesn’t exist on the nRF52840 (Gen 3) devices.
I looked through the Realtek RTL8721DM docs and didn’t find a single mention of USB HID support, so I’m guessing it’s not implemented.
