Particle Haunted House Supply List

Hi Particle Community!

I’m working on some Halloween Tutorials and the great @gusgonnet suggested I post the supply lists here ahead of time, in case anyone wants to follow along and build at home. The tutorials will be posted the week of Halloween. The projects and supplies are as follows:

Laser Skull:
Description: A simple circuit that causes lasers to shoot out the eye sockets of a foam skull when a button is pressed.

Technical Components:

  • Particle Argon
  • Wifi antenna
  • Breadboard
  • Male to male wires x 5
  • Male to female wires x 2
  • Laser Diodes that accept 3v x 2
  • Push Button
  • Battery pack

Non-Technical Components:

  • Foam Skull
  • Fake blood (optional)

Haunted Doll:
Description: A haunted doll that integrates with IFTT, blinks lights on and off, causes an LED strip to change color, and causes a hidden mask to jump out from it’s hiding place.

Technical Components:

  • Particle Photon
  • Breadboard
  • Male to male wires
  • Resistors
  • Hue lights (I used two but any number is fine)
  • RBG LED strip lights
  • Micro servo motor (normal servo would also work)
  • Laser diode
  • Laser sensor module
  • Battery pack

Non Technical Components

  • Vinyl doll with removable head
  • White acrylic paint
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Black/navy dye (optional)
  • Fake blood
  • Halloween mask
  • Styrofoam block roughly the same size as the halloween mask

Spooky Ghost
Description: A moving ghost that is controlled by blynk.

Technical Components:

  • Particle Boron
  • Battery pack
  • TT Motor x5
  • Hub for TT Motor x 5
  • Motor mount for TT Motor x 5
  • Stepper Motor Driver Breakout Board
  • Breadboard
  • Male to male wires

Non Technical Components

  • Sewing Spool
  • Wooden beam for mounting to wall
  • Wire clothes hanger or chicken wire
  • Fishing line
  • Cheesecloth or pillow case

I’ll also be working on a candy dispenser but I’m still working out the construction. Right now it includes a photon, a continuous rotation servo, and a big red button. Non technically, I’m testing it with a box and a cardboard chute but may change it to a bucket and a pvc pipe. It may change a lot over the next week as I prototype it so I’m holding off on listing supplies just yet.
