LocationPoint.epochTime - coordinate timestamp or current time?

Hello,
I'm looking for some clarification on the epochTime field of the LocationPoint object.
Does this value represent the time at which the coordinates were last updated?
Or is it just the current time as reported by the gps services?

GPS time that the location was determined, from the NEMA message from the GNSS hardware.

"GPS domain timestamp time/date in 32-bit, signed, epoch format. This is not synchronous to the system time."
