I did some investigation of using the Electron to upload data by FTP. It can be done and it works quite well, though there are some slightly weird stuff going on, which I’ll explain in detail below. I wrote a test program that uploads a file by FTP server every minute or so. It logs in (USER and PASS), changes the directory (CWD), requests passive mode (PASV), stores the file on the server (STOR), then quits (QUIT). The source is below.
