To close the loop. The Photon friendly library can be found here: https://github.com/sazp96/Adafruit_HX8357_Library

My code is not pretty but it works :smile:

Awesome! I just added few comments that I think will allow the code to be a little cleaner and maintain compatibility with non-particle devices. If you can, could you make those changes and I will merge the pull request?
