I removed patch and updated to 1.5.1. The problem with functions showing up in the console/cli is fixed. However I am still having problems. I have gotten the signal strength up to 30% - best I can do without specialized equipment. The Boron pulses blue like it is connected and then I go to ping it and it is offline. It requires an unknown cocktail of power cycles, antenna re-plugs, and waiting to get it to ping and work with functions even when blinking blue. There is something going on in terms of cellular connection/back end/server side/TMobile that I don’t understand. I bring the device out in the yard where is gets 50-60% and all of my problems pretty much go away. I have not tested used single controlled variable, but it seems to pretty much work outside i.e. if the light is blue, I can ping it and the functions work.
