Correct. The current is reduced as the battery voltage rises closer to the target charged voltage of 4-4.2v.
The reason the current drops is to prevent the battery voltage from going over the target charged voltage.
@RWB ok, this means that topping a battery on the solar panel will be difficult due to security features and not particularly due to the solar panel output. Thanks for clarification.
