Hi all I am back with a new Electron thanks to Particle.
I tried updating the old electron with the STLINK tool.
It appeared to flash OK.
The LED just flashes GREEN (trying to connect to Wi-Fi) and it will not connect to the cloud.
I do not want to connect it over W-Fi)
The Particle Device Update Tool says it has Firmware Version 0.6.0

How do I get it online?
So I took the already registered sim out and put it in the new Electron and added it to devices in the BUILD interface.
I was able to conduct an OTA program flash.
PROBLEM #2 (solved)
The replacement also has 0.4.8-rc.6
I don’t break this one so where can I fund up to date instructions on how to upgrade from 0.4.8-rc.6 to a version that will allow me to run 3 software timers?
The Particle Device Update Tool just freezes when i try to use on the OLD Electron.
Just discovered there are different Update Tools / Programs so used the 0.5.3 Update Tool and it worked.
Also just used the 0.6.0 Update tool and now finally have version 0.6.0 and all three software timers are now working.
Oh! This is what I mean about the documentation, its never immediately obvious for what device the text is for.
The problem is after doing firmware restore with STLINK the RGB Status LED flashes GREEN and it will not connect to the Mobile Network.
I looked online for Status LED Codes and this is what it says… (connecting to Wi-Fi)

This would suggest that your new SIM is not yet activated.
Have you done that already?
The SIM needs to be activated before you can use it to connect to the cloud with it. https://setup.particle.io/

I am not using the new sim yet.
Because I could not get the old electron working I put the already registered SIM from the old Electron into the new Electron.
It works fine.
PROBLEM #2 is solved, the only point I’m making from that is it was not clear in the instructions that different versions of the Firmware Update Tool exist. This is why the tool failed in previous attempts.
Might be an idea to have them all together on one download page so you can choose which one you need as a lot of different instructions just say to update, download the update tool, and provide a link but that link was the wrong tool for the update I needed to make so did not work.
I will try to put the OLD ELECTRON in safe mode when I get home.
Actually it would be nice to have only one tool which allows to select the desired system version. But I know Particle is already working on something like that - just not there yet.
I am unable to put into safe mode (Flashing Magenta)
Releasing Reset I see flashing magenta first but as soon as i release mode button it goes white, green then blue very quick.

Then Very Slow Dark Blue
Then Particle Serial Identify gives serial problems please reconnect device
Then USB device not recogniised
No serial port identified
Most of the time is Flashing Green
