802.11n and CC3000 - isn't this a big issue?

Got it . so it’s “good” that the part is not being phased out for a newer one … just production ramp issues from TI I guess …

@Dave - I’m now inclined to believe the main issue is indeed MIMO. I’ve written up some discussion of this here:

Basically I think even if the CC3000 added 802.11n support it would still have an issue as it would not have enough MIMO capable antennas to monitor the traffic coming from the fastest potential 802.11n clients that might run a Smart Config setup application.

Cool, thanks for posting your findings.

I have some mad-scientist stuff I want to try yet to see if it is possible to work through mimo, but it’s good to know we there are work-arounds in the meantime.

@Dave - I’m fascinated as to the mad scientist scientist stuff  Would be cool is you come up with something interesting - I just assumed it must be impossible to get around this in a half-way OK way.

@ghawkins FYI, we just implemented a back-up option that lets you provide Wi-Fi credentials over USB (using a serial terminal like PuTTY or CoolTerm) if you don’t want to send them over Smart Config or it won’t work because of the network topology.
