RGB Brightness Power Consumption Question

Hi there,

Quick question. If one set’s the brightness of the LED manually to say 50%… Would that consume less power?.. Would that help on conserving battery? Or only if I shut it down completely?

@frlobo, you kinda answered you own question! Reducing LED brightness means less current and therefore, power. For best battery life, you should reduce current consumption everywhere you can, including turning off the RGB LED.

LEDs typically operate in the mA range, even at 50% brightness you’re still probably consuming a few mA. For battery powered applications you’ll likely want to be in the uA range (while you’re not doing anything). As @peekay indicates, best bet is to turn off the LEDs when not absolutely needed.
