Hi everyone, I currently have two versions of hardware in a product. They share the same basic function and user interface, but due to different hardware an incompatible software base. I use device groups in the product to target the hardware with the correct firmware. Upgrading to P2, I guess it is theoretically possible to create a third device group for P2 based devices. Is this possible and or advisable ? I have looked around in the docs and forum and cannot find a decisive answer. The hardware is essentially three versions of the same thing and it feels like they should be in the same product. I'd appreciate some guidance please.
I'm pretty sure products are platform specific and that you can't mix them. I have a separate Photon 2 product that is functionally the same as my Photon 1 product, I just have to keep track of my access tokens that are scoped per product for each customer. If you're not using customers and managing that internally then it would be slightly less of a hassle.
Hey, on top of what James said above, it is NOT possible to add different type of devices to the same product. When you create a product it asks you what device it will allow to be added.
