Developer Preview Changelog - December 4, 2018

We have a new Developer Preview release of Workbench to share that includes one of the most-requested features: support for Particle Mesh hardware.

If you’ve already signed up for Workbench, you’ll receive an email with a link to download the update. If you’re not already using Workbench, visit particle.io/workbench to sign up and start building.

You can install the new version by following the instructions in Tutorial: Installing the Particle Workbench developer preview.

Please read the post, Information: How to report bugs and provide feedback for detailed instructions on how to provide feedback on Particle Workbench during developer preview.

We’re looking forward to hearing your continued feedback and excited to see what you build!

Here’s the full changelog:

New

  • Support local compilation for Particle Mesh hardware via deviceOS@0.8.0-rc.25

  • Snippets added for Particle Mesh hardware APIs

  • IntelliSense support added for Particle Mesh hardware

  • Simpler Particle: Configure Device for Workspace command replaces Particle: Set* commands

  • Particle: Launch Compiler Shell command provides a terminal running the same env that the Local Compiler uses (handy if you want to debug issues w/ local compilation)

Fixes & Improvements

  • Show available firmware when invoking Particle: Configure Workspace for Device (and related commands)

  • Show installed firmware when invoking Particle: Install Local Compiler

  • Refine activation-time setup: check for CLI and local compiler dependencies independently to better handle half-installed CLI state and prompt using a more-visible modal

  • Launch open dialog when importing or creating projects (Particle: Import Project and Particle: Create Project commands)

  • Launch open dialog if needed when prompting user to open a workspace (Particle: Install Library and many more)

  • Include subdirectories in audit report (Particle: Audit Environment)

  • Links on Welcome Screen that trigger quick-pick / command palette drop-downs render correctly

  • Increase reliability of IntelliSense on Windows with improved configuration
